Site's done, you're finished with your initial
optimization, and now you're probably wondering which is the best way to submit your page, to
which engines, and how often. Right?
Hopefully by now, you've figured out that you
have come to the right place. On this page are tools for you to use in submitting your website to
various Search Engines. (Directories, like Yahoo! and DMOZ, still should be done by hand so we aren't
going to add applications for those here.
PLEASE don't forget the cardinal rule of Search Engine Submissions during your time on
this page: If you submit a site to any Search Engine more than one time in thirty days, depending on
their individual policy, they will consider this a spamming of their engine and will remove your
listing altogether! -So don't do it! I know it's tempting to try all these tools out by submitting
your site through each one, but if you want to, just make sure you don't choose any one SEARCH
ENGINE twice within a month... Be careful!
WEB CEO SEO tools suite
For free site submissions, this software suite is
unmatched, period. Besides the Keyword Optimization report generator that we suggested you use in the Keyword
Density step, almost all of the rest of the SEO tools in this otherwise complete SEO solution software suite
are turned off... You can look but not use. But the Submission part is fully intact! They even send out updates
regularly to keep their search engine information up to date... And there are plenty included. For instance,
when I chose the "English language" Search Engines to automatically submit this site to, it loaded up 307 compatible
search engines and I was able to inspect all of their rules side by side, if I had wanted to. It also includes
the semi-automatic search engines, and the Directories as well!

Submit Corner's excellent online
After long hours of searching all the free, online
Search Engine submission websites, this is the best submitter I've come up with. Most only give 10 to
14 engines to choose from, with some that don't let you choose between them, all or nothing. Other
free submissions will offer 100 site or more, but it's not automated, so you literally have to visit
100 different "Add URL" pages... Which is of course too time consuming.
This submission form is by comparison, perfect. Not
only does it let you choose 33 (!) submissions, it even separates the regional engines to let you
better target, or not, your searchers. To submit your site, simply select the search engines you
would like to submit to below and complete the form with your site information. To learn more about
optimizing your site for each particular search engine, click the search engine name itself for Submit
Corner's reviews and insider tips to optimizing your rankings and shortening submission time(s).
Quick List of important directories
Search Engines have to start searching somewhere. They all
have a 'home' directory or two out there that they are 'loyal to,' such as Yahoo! is loyal to it's own
directory. Google is quite Loyal to DMOZ, the Open Source Directory, but it gets many others scanned, as well.
Below is a list of the most important FREE directories, in our professional opinion, that you should all submit your
websites to, each according to their own posted rules. One rule they all have in common though, is to post to them
all exactly once, no more.
These were chosen for their lack of cost, likeliness to pass their PageRank on to your site,
strong user interfaces, and quick inclusion. They are also all easy to use, however a couple of them require you to set
up a free account first, others require waiting periods, and one of them even requires you to sign up for their newsletter.
(Not a bad one though!)
- All The Web Sites (Free account required)
- DMOZ - the Open Directory Project (LONG wait, but worth it!)
- Jayde (Requires newsletter sign-up)
- Massive Links (Free for non-commercial sites only, businesses $9.99)
- Mavica (May take a while to get added.)
- Search City (Free account required)
- The Super Ultra Mega Web Directory
- Tygo (6-8 Weeks Waiting Period)
- World Site Index
- Wow Directory (Currently Backlogged)
- Yahoo! (Just for their engine, commercial directory inclusion costs $299!)
Search Engine and Directory Submission Software
As for the the best
submission software of all times? That's easy... IBP, hands down. (5.76 MB Windows download) Their
trial version doesn't submit a thing though, it only lets you look at all the search eninges you can submit to
until you upgrade! However, if you spend $19 for their basic version, you've got the best submitter that we
have ever heard of.
The best Free submission software? Also Easy. For performance approaching that of IBP's above, but totally free,
that could be nothing other than the WEB CEO 5 Freeware version. In fact, by itself this freeware is all the submission
tools that most small to medium websites will ever need. Highly reccommended!
